Preventative Care: Vacuum, Vacuum, and Vacuum!!!
Customers often ask "What can they do to help extend their carpets life and appearance through out the year between our cleanings? Here are some simple suggestions.
Dirt doesn't just look bad. It can damage your carpet. If allowed to accumulate, small particles of dirt, sand, rock salt etc. will wear individual carpet fibers. The abrasive properties of sand for instance, when continually walked on, will wear individual carpet fibers. Over time this abrasion will appear as an off shaded portion of carpet. This problem can not be fixed and prevention is the best solution. |

- Place walk-off mats at all outside entrances, use runners in high-traffic areas.
- The most important preventative measure you can take is proper vacuuming. Vacuum your carpet at least once per week. Depending on the amount of traffic vacuuming two or three times per week may be needed. Vacuuming will also help to improve the indoor air quality of your home. You should periodically use an edge attachment tool with a canister vacuum to clean the edges of each room.
- A vacuum cleaner with a motor driven brush attachment will work better than one that uses suction only. Follow your machine's directions for carpet height adjustment. It is important to change or empty your vacuums bag when needed.
- Your carpets should be hot water steam extracted at least every 12-18 months. Those of you with pets, kids, and not enough time to vacuum frequently may need to have your carpets professionally cleaned every six months. These recommendations may not be frequent enough if the family pet considers your carpet a litter box, or has become sick. We can give you an honest opinion when we see your carpets condition. This cleaning process will remove all the deep dirt and stains that regular vacuuming can not. Remember, your carpets are like a filter. Air flows through your house carrying allergens, dust, oils, etc. that get deposited into your carpet. Done regularly, hot water extraction carpet cleaning, will keep your carpets warranty intact and looking new for many years. And it will improve the indoor air quality of your home.

General Spills and Stains |
|
|
Many of the stain solutions sold at retail stores are not good for your carpets and some of them may set a stain permanent or cause re-soiling to the area treated. More importantly you do not want these chemicals left in your carpets. Is is also common for some of these stain treatments to change the color of your carpet.
We can provide for you a general spot remover bottle that will not have these effects. It will be capable of getting out most fresh stains. If you do not have one of our spot remover bottles you can use a drop of liquid dish soap in a cup of cold water for your cleaning solution. This solution will not be as effective as the product we offer, but it is better than using the wrong thing on a stain |

Quick action to spills will improve results, and a stain guard applied by us will make spill clean up easy and effective. The longer a spill sits on carpet the deeper in the carpet fiber the stain will get. The deeper a stain the harder to remove. A Stain Guard will not do the cleaning for you, but it will give you time to clean the spill before penetrating into the carpet fiber. |

Follow these steps: |

|
|
|
|
1. Remove solid stains with a spoon. Gently scrapping the substance off of your carpet fibers. If it is a wet spill, blot up as much of it as possible with a clean white towel. Absolutely no scrubbing only a blotting motion!
2. Spray our spot remover directly on your stain. If you do not have our recommended spot remover use a drop of liquid dish soap in a cup of cold water.
3. Allow solution to dwell on stain for 5 minutes.
4. Gently blot out solution with a clean white cloth. Start from the outer edges of the stain and work towards the center of the stain. The stain should start to transfer from the carpet to your clean white cloth.
5. Repeat the previous two steps until the stain is completely removed.
6. Once the stain is gone, or as good as you can get it, place a clean absorbent white towel over the stain. Leave a clean white absorbent towel on the stain and let sit for a period of time so that the towel absorbs the liquid.
7. Make note of the stain so that the next time you have your carpets professionally cleaned by us you can tell us what the cause of the stain is, and how long it was there for, and what you used on the stain. |
